Industrial Visit on 26th November 2016 to Numaligarh Refinery Ltd, Numaligarh by Members of GMA

A member delegation of Guwahati Management Association (GMA) visited the township and plant of Numaligarh Refinery Ltd in district of Golaghat on 25th& 26th November 2016 as part of industrial visit programme.

The team made an extensive tour of units of refinery and held discussions on ongoing projects with Director (Technical) and GM(Projects). Among new projects, NRL is installing a new Diesel Hydro-treater (DHT) Unit of 0.7 MMTPA capacity for production of BS V grade HSD. It has planned for expansion of its refinery from 3.0 to 9.0 MMTPA at the cost of Rs. 20,000 crore including construction of two cross-country pipelines: a) crude pipeline of 1,398 km length from Paradip (Odisha) to Numaligarh (Assam) for transporting imported crude oil to the refinery, and b) product pipeline of 650 km in length from Numaligarh to Siliguri for evacuation of product.

Bio-refinery Project
NRL plans to set up a pioneering bio-refinery at Numaligarh for production of fuel grade Ethanol from Bamboo which is locally available in abundance with the technology by M/s Chempolis of Finland.

Investment in Exploration and Production
NRL plans to enter into the upstream E&P sector and has initiated action to participate in the Discovered Small Oil & Gas Field bid round 2016 issued by the Directorate General of Hydrocarbons (DGH) of the Govt. of India.
