North East Management Convention. 18th February 2012

The North East Management Convention with theme “Managing North East – a Challenging Opportunity” was held on 18th February 2012 in Royal Group of Institutions, Guwahati.
This was a day long programme with more than seventy paid participants from corporate sector. This convention focused on the management challenges faced by the region on the achieving faster economic development - access to health care, education, skill development, poverty alleviation etc. The convention tried to help corporate, institutes, planners, state Government to enable them to draw an action agenda to meet the needs of faster development of North East. The decisions emanated during deliberations shall be placed before all the state Government of the region and NEC, DONER to influence their strategic policy decision for 12th plan. 

Prof. Tapodhar Bhattacherjee, Vice-chancellor, Assam University, Silchar delivered his inaugural speech and declared open the North East Management Convention: Managing North East- a Challenging Opportunity.

Prof. Swapan Kumar Majumdar member Governing Board, Indian Institute of Management, Shillong delivered the key note address. He postulates strategies about competition strategy, supply side development, integration to market to transform NE Region, blessed with resources into developed economy.etc

There were several notable resource speakers in the  technical session:

  1. > Dr. G.N.Hazarika, Director Research, Assam Agriculture University presented “N.E. Agriculture-Issues and Perspective”.
  2. > Sri J. Borkataky, Former Chairman AERC delivered a speech on Energy Security in North East Region and gave a background of growth of electricity in India and power scenario in N.E., Hydro potential of N.E. and also status of development.
  3. > Sri Dipankar Purkayastha, GM SBI delivered a speech on Growth of SME sector in North Eastern Region.
  4. > Dr. N.N.Dutta, Chairman, of Down Town University spoke on  Health Care with emphasis on Inclusion: Good Health is Human Right, Welfare Government for every citizen
