Worshop on "What employees should know about Labour Laws"

One Day Programme on Refresher Workshop on “ What employees should know about Labour Laws” on 10th April , 2010 at Hotel Rajmahal, Guwahati.
The programme was aimed at refreshing the knowledge of the manager and the application of the same in real life situation for adjusting to the change that has engulfed the industrial environment of the country.
The workshop was conducted using various tools and techniques of modern day training programme lectures, participative discussion and real life case study etc.

The participants were encouraged to bring their real life problems to the course with an objective to learn through discussions and collective experience of all. Special emphasis was given on Employees Provident Fund & Misc provision Act 1972 payment of ways Act 1972, Minimum wages Act. Industries employment standing order, Trade Union, Industrial dispute Act and Contract labour etc.

About 52 participants from various corporate joined the programmes.
Faculties were drawn from state Govt Senior labour officers , senior faculties from reputed Management Institutes and from H.R. Dept. of large corporate of North East.
Mr. P.C.Deka , senior Advocate of Guwahati high Court presiding over the concluding session advised the participants with his real life experience of labour laws of Guwahati high court for many years explained some cases how problem can be minimized in labour issue with practical wisdom and with matured approach.

Initially Sri H.N. Das, Former Chief Secretary Govt . of Assam , Sri Shantikam Hazarika , Director of Assam Institute of Management , addressed the participant and impressed them to take away all the learning gathered from the experienced faculties and utilize in their own work place. They also advised them not to hesitate to ask questions and problems which they faced in discharging their duties in the field.

The valedictory session was chaired by Sri D. N. Barua, President of GMA where certificates were awarded to each participants. In their feedback, participant expressed that they would go back with the rich experience of handling labour and learnt enough from the most learned faculties of various sector of the region and requested GMA to have repeat performance of such courses.
